What is atropine?

Atropine is an alkaloid with antimuscarinic actions obtained from Atropa belladonna; used to dilate the pupil, as an antispasmodic, and to inhibit gastric secretion; other effects include inhibition of salivary, bronchial, and sweat secretion, increase in heart rate, and inhibition of the urinary bladder.
