What is curettage?

Curettage is surgical scraping of the interior of a cavity with a curette to remove growths or diseased tissue, or to obtain tissue for examination.

fractional c. Separate curettage of the lining of the uterus and of the cervical canal for diagnostic evaluation.
periapial c. Removal of diseased tissue surrounding the root of a tooth.

Curettage, in medical procedures, is the use of a curette to remove tissue by scraping or scooping.
