ciliary z. The suspensory apparatus of the lens of the eye, consisting of numerous delicate fibers that originate in the ciliary body and attach to the anterior and posterior surface of the capsule of the lens; as the ciliary muscle contracts, the tension of the fibers accomodates, thus determining the degree of convexity of the lens.
